THE BAND
STING is a vibrant, energetic and exciting “Category B” Junkanoo Group that hails from the sunny aisles of the Bahamas. Known throughout the Bahamian community for their electrifying, lyrical interpretations of the Bahamian culture, STING continues to produce meaningful and ‘real life’ song compositions such as ‘Da Toters’, ‘Tip, Tip, Tip’, ‘I is a Bahamian’, Civil Servants, just to name few, that positively describes the Bahamian people and the attributes that define the Bahamian culture. The impact that this group has had from its inception to now, is a direct reflection of words that defines the acronym of its very name - S.T.I.N.G - “Striving Together In National Growth”.
Well loved and anticipated for their showcase on Bay Street for both the Boxing Day and the New Years Day Parades, STING has created their own style and a respected name for themselves. However, the group prides itself as being a well-rounded group not only focusing on their appearance and showcase during the ‘Junkanoo Season’, but on giving back to the community to be able to promote national growth at all levels. It is with the community and Bahamian people in mind that STING continues to take the time to demonstrate culturally through song a strong love and appreciation for Bahamian culture and strive to be community builders. Celebrating its 14th year of hosting an annual Children’s Christmas Party for all of the children at the various children’s homes in New Providence, and the 4th year of celebrating and giving back to the children of West End, Grand Bahama, STING continues to be community builders and national supporters in preserving the Bahamian National Pride.
A three-time Cacique winner of the People’s Choice Award for “Song of the Year”, STING has broaden their scope over the last 10 years and taken their energy across the sea to participate in the Junkanoo celebrations in Freeport, Grand Bahama. Known across the Bahamas for their infamous and catchy rhythms, STING also prides itself for having produced 15 songs to date, all of which keeps up with the traditions and various elements of the Bahamian culture.
